Question Elemental summoner

Hi,
I started with a elemental summoner and I notice that merrow the unicorn has really poor status with buffes. I can't see if the summon receive buffs and looks like this char is totally useless compared with the rest of chars.
Can you do something and repair the summons to be able to receive some proper buffs? Look at the casting speed and the rest of the stats, when you use the unicorn to lvl up is useless against same lvl mobs.
How do I suppose to lvl up?

If the stats are right, you could try to AOE farm. If I remember correctly, Merrow has that aqua splash nuke. I don't remember any farming spots from Interlude, but you could try Ancient Battleground (they are groups, they might stun, but HP is 1/2). And I think that there was another spot with group mobs outside Oren, but I don't remember their lvl. Those mobs disappeared on later updates.
If I were you I would've played Phantom Summoner. Shadow has a passive VR and with additional VR from buffs, you practically don't really need to heal it.
