I don't think it's envy we're talking about here. At least not from my perspective. But it's not happiness either :)). I'm not happy for you, nor am I envious. Use it in good health i guess. But fuck, that's a whole lot of money for a bike. I had my eyes set on a nice bike over here in RO, costs about 20-30 mil (that's about 500 euros). I cannot imagine what the rest of the money you paid for that bike is for ... is it some sort of uber brand, is that why the price is obscene?

Some people have different priority. Simple as that.
I can't see myself giving that much money for a bike, but I could see me giving that much money on a trip for example. It's all in what you want and you can afford.

I didn't pick on you per se, man. I just wanted to know if you attend cycling competitions or something. It'd be the only thing that would explain that big of an investment and I'm pretty much asking cause I'm a cycling fiend and am into this kind of stuff.
But maybe I'm just seeing the empty half of the glass, here.
What do you intend to do with it and what does it offer that other bikes didn't?

The ability to show that you have money to throw away. And if anyone calls you out on it, you can easily use the envy card.

When I was a kid, I had this friend who used to be extremely poor but his mother married a dumb filthy rich dude and he stopped being poor. If you even hinted that you don't absolutely love what he just bought, to him it could only mean that you're envious of him.

I've started with a 300 EUR bike. I learned a lot about different parts of the bike and how those parts influence the way I ride it. So I upgrade it. Not all of the sudden. Then I didn't had what to upgrade. So I sold it. And bought another one. A 1k Euro one (sold the other one with ~700 EUR). And after I noticed (while riding it) what needs to be upgraded, I did it at this bike also. Then I sold it too. For ~2k Euro. And so on till I got the bike that ... doesnt need any upgrade. It's ... perfect !

And to Logica ... I spent my own money. Earned with my brain. Didn't won the lottery, didn't inherited anyone.
And yes, it's my passion. I don't crave for top noch phones. Or other gagets, for example I own a Huawei phone.

its not about whether its your passion or not, its just no matter how you look at it the bike cant be worth 7k+ euros, that amount of money must be duo to the brand's name you know like how some cloths with same quality can be worth from 50 euros to 300 euros cuz it has some brand.

yeah we are happy for you that you can afford a 7k+ euros for a bike, but its just sound....well dumb.

Dude, it's NASA technology in it. Carbon fiber, Hidraulic brakes, different sizes of breaks (bigger in front cause you break mostly with the front brakes). Then the shape of the bike, how it's designed to sit on the track. Downhill bikes are the formula 1 of bicycles ... :D

For me it's hard to explain to you the feeling you have while going down. It's ... amazing. And there is a saying between us ... if you have control of your bike, you're not going fast enough !<br />

Not really. Road bikes are the Formula 1 of bicycles. In fact, they're the perfect match for that comparison. The best comparison for a downhill bike is a Dakar rally car. Or just a rally car in general.
As for the NASA engineering, I can tell you it's the same when it comes to talking about a road bike. Does the difference from a 1K euro(a well made one) to a 10K USD bike matter all that much when speaking of amateurs in terms of performance? Not really.

'neeway, opinions are like buttholes. Everyone has one. I'd choose a Cyclocross bike over a downhill bike any day of the week but that's just my butthole, as mentioned earlier. :p

And this is just a random dude's commute to work, the first youtube link that turned up on a search. CX is awesome, man. It's just not popular. It blends the beauty of Road bike riding with the rigidity and braking of a Mountain bike.
Don't look down on something just because there aren't a bagillion Gopro movies about it that are edited to death.

I don't like pedaling ! :D And I love downhill before watching on youtube. Going to Cozla or Carlomanu and then going down ... amazing feeling. That .. CX ... pedalling on a flat street. Nothing special. I can do that @gym. :))))
