In such cases it depends solely on the community, as anything does. Thing is that even tho some things are (somewhat)crappy but still enjoy the full support from their community , that will make it grow in time (i.e. Star Citizen presentation that was riddled with bugs but people still cheered). There are also lots of cases (most of them) with games that had great ideas at play but were unable to use them or even take advantage of them.

I had AoW3 installed for about 2 months during which I played the game a total of 3 times (5 hours). I find the game utterly boring and repetitive, I guess it's just not my cup of tea, even though I enjoyed Civ5 and Heroes3 (which seems to be the inspiration for AoW)

Star Citizen is faaaaar from an unambitious project though. Minecraft would be a better example.

Checked Star Citizen's official website,looks like,the bigger the wallet,the better you are. forgot to mention,not hating and it says that it's not pay to win,but I'm not exactly sure how to see this other than that,I mean you can straight out buy the best ships. Anyway,I might be wrong,most likely I'm wrong,I just hope so bad that they don't fuck up somehow,I want to play the shit out of the game and I'm kinda on a train hype,I've always wanted a game similar to star trek so I can fly around the space but EVE didn't quite cut it for me

Didn't mean to say Star Citizen was not an ambitious project, just made a remark on how important community is.

well AoW is based on exploration which i like and heroes characters got tons of skills and items and there is so many spells and also the campaign missions can change depending on the choices you make, it might seems repetitive/boring cuz its not your style but its packed with stuff.
