It's just us vs them mentality. In this kind of a mind set. members of other groups look kind of similar (for example, western people see chinese people as all looking the same and I think it's vice versa also) and this doesn't apply to only physical appearance but to also their habits and mannerisms. Their qualities are reduced for the simple fact that they're in another group: they seem more evil, more dumber etc. than they actually are. And we've evolved too instantly see members of other tribes as foes, just because 100k years ago another tribe in the area meant less resources (mainly food) for you. I think this is partially the explanation for what happens to people in competitive games such as L2 and even in RL events where there's conflict between people of different creeds, nationalities etc.Game based on competition that doesn't bring out your inner-asshole? If you mean pc games ... Stracraft for one. Players are civil for the most part. Guild Wars 2, although not that competitive, has also got quite a friendly player-base.
gw2's competitivity is dumbed down. You don't have that constant us vs them gameplay, like in L2, that keeps you on your toes and some times frustrates you.
PS: Congratz Bloody on the level up.
