I don't know, I found it on reddit yesterday and I don't remember the context. Anyway, the point was the realization afterwards of how an account with either credibility or moderating rights can be bought and used for advertising, pushing an agenda or sway public opinion. Think about it.

-why would I pay 10.000 euro for a poster on the subway to be seen by 3000 people, when I can buy a reddit account with lots of karma (therefore credibility) and make up a story on how something magnificent happened all due to product X to be seen by 30.000 people?
-why would I spend millions of dollars to raise support for a war through mass-media campaigns when I can buy a reddit account with moderator on a major sub such as /r/worldnews that will censor anti-invasion posts and also buy a credible account and post some sob story about how country leader X has murdered and eaten babies? all this in exchange for pocket change...

Because it's a secret organization who's planning to take over reddit and the world after that.

Well on reddit even Mods get called out on BS. So yeah, they could buy the account for pocket change, but they will be able to use it 3 or 4 times, until they get "caught". Also why would you spend money on an account when you have access to international printed/tv/net press to spread your stories?

Because people usually ask for sources for news, and the moderation logs are probably seen by the admins.

I know both the images, I downvoted the first one as soon as I saw it, but yeah people (especially the stupid people) can be manipulated easily, still as you can see from your own argument, that as easy it is to manipulate redditors one way, you can manipulate them just as easily the complete opposite way (calling out BS).
