Yeah but it used to be common sense not to compare depression with fucking cancer. The discussion was about how there's a double standard when if someone dies of cancer, the obituary invariably mentions their brave battle with cancer and that if someone dies from suicide, no one mentions they died after a brave battle with depression.
I wish all these depressed wankers would get to live the last month of a terminal cancer patient - not to die, just to live that last month up to the last second. I bet they'll beg God to give them depression instead.
You can't really compare it that way. When you have cancer, you don't want to die. When you're clinically depressed, you want to die. We can't really control our moods beyond a certain point - if you can't feel empathy anymore, what does it matter to you if others have a hard time? Likewise, if there's no pleasure in the world, you can't fulfill one of your basic needs.
Not that I'm advocating social justice for depressed people, but your thinking is a bit closed-minded.
Yea yea yea I'm insensitive, closed minded, yada yada. You don't compare dying of cancer to dying of suicide because you're sad. This is just offensive to all the people who've died in the agony of cancer and I don't consider this new emerging sensitivity mindframe reddit so quickly has adapted and is pushing around a good thing for people as a whole.

I think it's safe to finally declare this thread dead. I know it kept being said sometimes that it died but didn't, but it's been going slow and boring for months now. In the past we'd get like max a week of inactivity in holiday seasons then it boomed again. Not now tho - dead for months, most old guard posters have stopped coming at all. It's dead, and i'm out too. It's been a great 6? 7 years?

On a different note, after many years since it was released, I started watching Death Note. Please NO SPOILERS I'm not done with it yet, ~5 episodes left. I find it a really good show. Too bad waited so long to see it.

I don't generally post if I don't need to reply to anyone, but I read this thread frequently.
People stop posting, especially since the forum was inactive for a few months and when it got back nobody really knew. Now there's no new people here for various reasons, and the only thing we can do is keep it alive with what small community we have. But it's inevitable, people lose interest.
