the probably one of her fetishimagine if those prisoners got a hold of you
This is true. The ideal of the justice system is reintegration. Punishment is a puerile way of healing and reinforcing society.I think she's interning with her college? Since she's studying law and stuff. And yes, the justice system is fucked, it's not meant to rehabilitate but to punish. Which obviously doesn't work since most who go to prison will reoffend. Look at rehabilitation-based prisons in the Nordic countries which have almost 0 reoffending rate.
as much as i agree with youThis is true. The ideal of the justice system is reintegration. Punishment is a puerile way of healing and reinforcing society.
And that's exactly why the victim doesn't judge the crime. Punishment solves nothing.as much as i agree with you
if a dude comes and rapes your mom and kill her, suddenly punishment wouldn't sound too bad anymore
IMO justice vary greatly depending on the POV
I know you people still stone women and stuff, but the Talion law is not exactly a modern concept. Society has greatly evolved. How would punishing someone make you any better? You should not think like them, you should help them somehow. .Ofc that if the person is a serial killer with serious mental issues, he should be put away.as much as i agree with you

The problem is that most of our criminals don't even have a job. So they cannot pay you. Making them work would be an option, but now work is not mandatory in prison and even so, if they chose to work, they can't do much, our industry is 0, or almost 0.And that's exactly why the victim doesn't judge the crime. Punishment solves nothing.
In a rape + murder situation it's usually life in prison. That's kinda pointless. I'd rather he pay me money for the rest of his life.
we dont stone women in egypt..but anyway..I know you people still stone women and stuff, but the Talion law is not exactly a modern concept. Society has greatly evolved. How would punishing someone make you any better? You should not think like them, you should help them
But what if you supposedly catch a serial killer at his FIRST ever victim and society works into rehabilitating him? You're inviting him into doing it again. Because as we all know, most serial killers don't get to that status because they had no chance of getting away with some other criminal offence. They do it because they enjoy it.I know you people still stone women and stuff, but the Talion law is not exactly a modern concept. Society has greatly evolved. Yeah, that was more of an ideal world scenario. Making him suffer still won't bring his victims back though. The problem is that most of our criminals don't even have a job. So they cannot pay you. If he's mentally unstable he'd be put into a mental institution. If he's not, then he doesn't kill people because he likes it and your example falls apart. But what if you supposedly catch a serial killer at his FIRST ever victim and society works into rehabilitating him? You're inviting him into doing it again. Because as we all know, most serial killers don't get to that status because they had no chance of getting away with some other criminal offence. We're not exactly surrounded by serial killers. Containing every possible one for 25 years and not helping him in any other way doesn't help either. People can be good, they just need guidance and trust. But what if you supposedly catch a serial killer at his FIRST ever victim and society works into rehabilitating him? Based on your rehabilitating system a lot of mentally ill people would easily get away with several murders as opposed to a life-sentence out on the "first try"
The rehabilitating system will hardly ever become popular ESPECIALLY because of the very very dark cases which can't be helped. It would easily suffice to have ONE or a couple of these individuals go on a rampage and society'd be hopscotching back to punishment.
